Well, it saved our family! It's just that simple. With three children, ages 7, 10 and 13, my husband and I found ourselves drowning in a sea of rules. We couldn't even remember all of them so how could we expect the kids to? They just sneaked up on us gradually - one child, one age at a time.
This book makes so much sense: 'Spread the responsibility for building and maintaining a happy family life among all family members.' It helped us discover what we really valued in life and wanted to impart to our children. (Got that, OUR Values, not those some expert was trying to force on us.) Then, it took us step by step through the process of writing our own, completely individualized, one-rule plan for family happiness. One Rule - and it certainly led to family happiness in our home.
Simple. Well organized. Step by step. Based on the parent's own values. Dozens of practical illustrations of how to apply the plan and make it work. Thanks Dr. H. You changed our lives forever. (We also get the idea our children think we suddenly became a whole lot smarter and easier to live with! We did!!!)
